Prime Minister Project!

Each student has chosen a different Canadian Prime Minister to research.

Students have had enough class time to complete their research using different texts and websites, so they should have all the information they need.

Now, students must think creatively to create a box (or bag or suitcase...) that might have belonged to their Prime Minister and fill it with at least five different items to represent their life and career.

For the presentation, students have to take on the persona of their Prime Minister! They should introduce themselves (with information such as their birthdate, when they were Prime Minister...) and they should explain their memory box and the importance of each item.

Students do have a page with all the details and the rubric.

This project is due Thursday, June 2nd.

Quiz Alert!

The Social Studies Quiz is tomorrow!
Students should be able to identify the provinces and territories on a Canadian map
and name each capital city.

Speechtastic!

Our next Speechtastic is an Entertaining Speech.
Students are to prepare a 2-5 minute speech. It could be a humorous story, a scary story or a dramatic story.
Students: Remember that an entertaining speech is most effective when the topic is personal and you enjoy yourself. Try to keep it simple and tell your story like a roller coaster.

Speechtastic presentations are Friday, May 27th.

Biographies!

Students have interviewed each other and are now writing their partner's biography!
It will be interesting to learn something new about each member of our class.

The first drafts of the biographies are due Wednesday, May 25th.

French Comic Strips!

In Français, students have been reading comic books and studying the different components of comic strips such as symbols and speech bubbles. They filled in the dialogue of an existing comic strip.

Students are now working on their final project: inventing their very own comic strip!
Their comic must be 2 - 5 pages and have at least 12 panels. It must have at least one example of each element of a comic and be written in beautiful French. Students should use their creativity and show their best work. The final comic strip could be drawn on paper or created on the iPad using Comic Life.
Students will have time all this week in class to work on their comic strip. After that it will be homework.

The Original Comic Strip Project is due Tuesday, May 31st.
